Yee Haw Cowboy

Cowboy boots are no longer reserved for western movies, nor for attending the occasional rodeo.  They work so well, and look so cute (especially short ones), with skinny jeans and leggings.  I got a pair last year from Steve Madden with chains bling blings on them!

Rain boots

Everyone needs a good pair of rain boots.  Not only can you wear them in the rain, and what an amazing feeling you get to be invincible against puddles, but they are suitable for the snow and slush as well given that they are very waterproof.  I remember back in the day when I was a kid, rain boots were pretty ugly to say the least.  The past few years, there have been many newcomers into the North American rain boot scene, with more colours and styles to choose from.  To be honest, I can't justify spending anything more than $50 on a pair of rain boots (they ARE only made of rubber).  However, these are really amazing and tempt my wallet just a bit.  I love the lace details and they look so feminine.  Yet, I know I can count on them on those bad days.

Platform Sandals

I really want a pair of leather platform sandals.  Not only are platforms currently in right now, but they add height, make your legs longer, and look very sexy especially with the straps going around the feet.  Case in point, Julia Roberts at New York's Eat Pray Love premiere.  I thought she was too old for this stuff!

Oxford Flats

Oxford flats are just a touch of old school, a little preppy, and are so wonderful for fall.  They match with so many outfits whether it's with skirts and tights, skinny pants, or even to work!

Pour la Victoire Oxford Ballet flats, $210 at Neiman Marcus.  I love the brown bottoms on this one.  Adds a touch of colour to your outfit.

Below, Taylor Swift with her oxford flats.  Too cute for words.

Dr. Martens

When I was a kid, I had a pair of Dr. Marten's that I actually wore as my dress shoes.  I was watching one of my all time favourite Korean dramas, Boys Over Flowers, when I saw the main actress wearing Dr. Marten's!  Seeing her with a pair made me want a pair!!  I thought the company was bankrupt, but I think they are slowly making a slight comeback.  They actually look cute, and they add an edge to girl-ier outfits.  The downside, they don't come cheap for shoes you don't wear too often, ranging from $120 US and up on Dr Marten's website.

Nude Pumps

I believe in every woman's closet, other than having a pair of sandals, runners, and standard work pumps, one should also have a pair of nude pumps as well.  Nude pumps are a classic staple that matches with close to everything.  Plus, they elongate the legs, adding a touch of VA-VA-VOOM to any outfit!

Moccasins

The moccasin trend started around 3-4 years ago.  At the time, I'd really wanted a pair, but I couldn't bring myself to buy it because of the price and another is that I wouldn't wear it that often.  Fast forward to this year, and my favorite Nicole Richie is still rocking them.  If you've never thought of them, you may reconsider.  Moccasins are very comfortable, almost UGG-like, and give such a bohemian cool casual look.  Maybe I will take the plunge and splurge this year. :)

Available at Minnetonka.  Ankle high fringe boots for $50.

Floral Peep-toe

My best friend is getting married this Saturday, and I was given the honor of being bridesmaid!  I'm not going to lie, as it is a lot of work, but I think it's time, money, and effort well spent given most people only get married once in their lives.  She was very specific in that we had to have matching shoes, but to my surprise, they look very nice.  The rosette peep-toe heels, with the flower print gives me a very old school retro feel, as if I was transported back to the 50s.  The thick heel in the back should help to support walking in tired achy feet.  Also, each pair of shoes are unique due to the different parts of the fabric used.  This is definitely not your average bridal footwear.

Available at David's bridal, Floral Print Peep Toe d'Orsay High Heel with Rosette $59.

Sam Edelman Lorissa Peeptoe Pumps

I'm a suNew Postcker for shoes with details, whether it's embroidery, bows, lace, the material... so it is no surprise i was immediately attracted to Sam Edelman's Lorissa peeptoe pump.  The plastic spikes are totally MAJOR, be the talk of all your friends, and would be so awesome for a night out as a perfect accessory to that little black dress (or with a Halloween costume).  The only downside is that it's super high (4 inches) and very heavy to wear due to the thick spiked heel.  You gotta make some sacrifices to look good sometimes.

Sam Edelman Lorissa Peeptoe Pumps, available at stores nationwide ($200).

Wedding shoes: red platform peep toes

I've never thought too much about my wedding shoes, though I'd imagined that they would be white satin in the form of a pump or sandal with a very high heel.  I know a lot of more practical brides nowadays for the sake of their poor sore feet by the end of the day, choose to wear more comfortable forms of wedding footwear such as flats, cowboy boots or even converses!  Personally, I believe in a more classical look for the wedding, such as heels or sandals as it adds elegance and height.  My friend for her upcoming wedding chose to have red peep toe suede platform pumps, and my god are they amazing!  They blew me away!  Mind you, she plans to carry flip flops just in case, as I heard they're terribly uncomfortable.  I think it's TOTALLY worth it given how they stand out in pictures.  A little bit fairy tale and Alice in Wonderland-like.

She got them from Nine West a few months back, and they're now sold out  The next closest alternative is Unite, on pre-sale now at Nine West for $150 under the Boutique 9 brand.

The Laced Up Sandal

I was browsing at the mall with a friend the other day, when we came upon the most amazing sandals for summer and fall..

I really like the look of these, gives me a safari city feel that is oh-so-cute.  The low heel and the zipper on the back makes it easier to wear.  I could wear it with my summer dresses, shorts, khakis, really perfect for going out in the daytime. It's also offered in black and beige.  Can you believe they are sold out in my size in the brown online already?  These shoe shoppers are crazy.

Melander sandal available at Aldo for $100.
